OUR METHODS

THE DORN METHOD

This is a form of manual, holistic alternative therapy used to correct misalignments in the spinal column and other joints. This approach is somewhat related to chiropractic although it is different in its practical application.
It is a non-manipulative therapy which focuses on helping joints and vertebra slip back into the natural position through self-determined movements of the patient.
All corrections happen in a dynamic way with the patient aiding therapy by actively participating with the therapist. In other words, we use the patient’s own movements to facilitate change within the body.
The Dorn Method is a gentle and safe manual therapy focusing on the cause of back and joint pain and is affected for people of all ages.
It may be used in conjunction with McTimoney Chiropractic care where considered appropriate by your practitioner.
THE EMMETT TECHNIQUE

This is a muscle release therapy which is used to address issues of pain and dysfunction. It is non-invasive and does not involve any massage oils, drugs, and manipulations or high velocity thrusts.
Developed by Ross Emmett, EMMETT technique is used as a combination of gentle switches and direct pressure to unlock muscle memory, release specific muscle groups, and allow the body to return to balance.
The results are often dramatic and can be instantaneous.
The Emmett technique can be used to address pain and discomfort and improve restrictions in movement.
Symptoms that may be assisted include
-
Back and hip pain
-
Neck and shoulder restrictions and discomfort
-
Knee and ankle restrictions
-
Persistent heal and foot pain
-
Balance issues
-
And much much more!
It may be used in conjunction with McTimoney Chiropractic care where considered appropriate by your practitioner

IMPULSE ADJUSTMENT

The impulse adjusting instrument Is designed to deliver gentle and precise chiropractic adjustments to the joints of the spine and extremities to relieve pain and restore function.
Extreme speed - the impulse is twice as fast as the adjusting instruments and 100 times faster than manual chiropractic adjustments. The gentle thrust is faster than the bodies tendency to tighten up and resist the adjustment.
Controlled force – the impulse has three different force settings for different parts of the body and to treat patients of all ages. The controlled low force thrust of the impulse makes treatments comfortable.
Frequency tuned waveform – the impulse is specifically tuned to the natural frequency of the body that joints, muscles and nerves respond to optimising results for patients.
What does it feel like? – chiropractic adjustments with the impulse adjusting instrument feel like a light tapping sensation on the area that is being treated. In most cases the treatment is painless and after the adjustment many patients feel relief of pain and improved mobility. Others report a sense of well-being or a soothing calm feeling.
Your Chiropractor will consult with you about your health and perform a complete examination to identify your problems before deciding whether the impulse adjusting instrument is right for you

SACRO-OCCIPITAL TECHNIQUE (SOT)

SOT was developed in 1925 by Major Bertrand De Jarnette, a chiropractor and engineer. SOT emphasises the interconnectedness of the body, particularly the relationship between the sacrum (base of the spine) and the occiput (base of the skull), which are anchor points for the dural membrane, which covers the brain and spinal cord. It is known as a gentler method of chiropractic adjusting, often preferred by those who are wary of traditional "clicking" adjustments.
During SOT treatment, chiropractors may use specific blocks or wedges to gently reposition the pelvis and spine, aiming to correct misalignments and restore proper function to the nervous system. SOT aims to optimise cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) flow, relax tension in the membranes around the brain and nerves, and improve movement in the spinal joints.
SOT practitioners often consider the whole body and its interconnected systems, taking a holistic approach to health and wellness
