CHIROPRACTIC

Chiropractic is a primary healthcare profession concerned with the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system, and the effects of these disorders on the function of the nervous system and general health.

Your Chiropractor is trained to assess the neuromusculoskeletal system and identify restrictions, imbalances and dysfunction and a chiropractic package of care often involves spinal and peripheral joint adjustments and mobilisations, application of tissue treatment and advice on exercise, self-help, diet and lifestyle where appropriate.

Chiropractors do not use medicines or surgery and the gentle manual approaches we use are extremely safe and comfortable to receive.

WE ARE McTIMONEY CHIROPRACTORS

Our chiropractors use the McTimoney approach to chiropractic which was developed by the late John McTimoney in the UK over 50 years ago and is taught at the McTimoney College of Chiropractic based in Oxford.

This approach to chiropractic care is a gentle and effective treatment for the whole body, focusing on correcting the alignment of the spine and other joints to restore nerve function, alleviate pain and promote natural health.

Key features:

- Whole-body Approach - practitioners assess and treat the entire musculoskeletal system, operating on the principle that pain in one area may stem from issues elsewhere in the body.

- Gentle Adjustments-  The technique employs light, quick, and precise adjustments, making it suitable for individuals of all ages including infants and the elderly. This means we do not ‘ crack’ or ‘crunch’.

HOW CAN CHIROPRACTIC HELP ME...

BABIES/CHILDREN

Aches and pains in children can be from the numerous bumps, falls and tumbles that are in an inevitable part of childhood.

The use of gaming equipment, laptops, mobile phones, and tablets, carrying heavy bags from school and sitting on ill-fitting furniture can all contribute to dysfunctions in a child’s musculoskeletal system and general wellbeing.

Regular paediatric chiropractic appointments can be beneficial in boosting your child's brain development. It does this by reducing pressure on your bones and joints and well as the spine, enabling oxygenated blood and nutrients to reach and fuel the brain cells.

ADULTS/SENIORS

As we age, maintaining spinal health becomes increasingly important for overall well-being.

Chiropractic care offers a natural, non-invasive approach to managing pain, improving mobility, and enhancing quality of life for adults and seniors.

Whether you’re dealing with chronic back pain, arthritis, or simply want to stay active and independent, chiropractic adjustments can help restore balance to your body and support healthy aging.

Our techniques are gentle and your comfort is always paramount and we will adapt to suit each patient

WHAT TO EXPECT & HOW TO BOOK

Imagery

Your Chiropractor will assess your problem and your general health by listening to you, taking a medical history, and conducting a physical examination (which may include orthopaedic and neurological testing as appropriate). They will also carry out a postural assessment before discussing with you their findings.

Chiropractors have broad diagnostic skills and if your Chiropractor feels your problem is not suitable for chiropractic care, or needs further investigation, with your permission, they will liaise with your GP and other healthcare providers to arrange an appropriate referral.

Depending on the findings of the examination and your symptoms, your chiropractor may recommend/arrange further diagnostic tests to include blood tests and/or imaging such as x-rays or MRIs.

Your Chiropractor will discuss with you a recommended care plan and, with your consent, will commence treatment either at your first appointment (time permitting) or at a follow-up appointment soon after.
